Rowboat Book Club Book #37

This month I am going to add A. Lincoln, by Ronald C. White jr. I love Abraham Lincoln so much. He is my favorite President.

Everyone wants to define the man who signed his name “A. Lincoln.” In his lifetime and ever since, friend and foe have taken it upon themselves to characterize Lincoln according to their own label or libel. In this magnificent book, Ronald C. White, Jr., offers a fresh and compelling definition of Lincoln as a man of integrity–what today’s commentators would call “authenticity”–whose moral compass holds the key to understanding his life.

Through meticulous research of the newly completed Lincoln Legal Papers, as well as of recently discovered letters and photographs, White provides a portrait of Lincoln’s personal, political, and moral evolution. White shows us Lincoln as a man who would leave a trail of thoughts in his wake, jotting ideas on scraps of paper and filing them in his top hat or the bottom drawer of his desk; a country lawyer who asked questions in order to figure out his own thinking on an issue, as much as to argue the case; a hands-on commander in chief who, as soldiers and sailors watched in amazement, commandeered a boat and ordered an attack on Confederate shore batteries at the tip of the Virginia peninsula; a man who struggled with the immorality of slavery and as president acted publicly and privately to outlaw it forever; and finally, a president involved in a religious odyssey who wrote, for his own eyes only, a profound meditation on “the will of God” in the Civil War that would become the basis of his finest address.

Most enlightening, the Abraham Lincoln who comes into focus in this stellar narrative is a person of intellectual curiosity, comfortable with ambiguity, unafraid to “think anew and act anew.”

A transcendent, sweeping, passionately written biography that greatly expands our knowledge and understanding of its subject, A. Lincoln will engage a whole new generation of Americans. It is poised to shed a profound light on our greatest president just as America commemorates the bicentennial of his birth.

Easy like Sunday morning

Good morning blog readers and friends. Is everyone enjoying their weekend? Take today to rest before we all have to go back to work and resume the grind.

I went to the weirdest Church service this morning in Bluffdale, Utah. It’s the 2nd time I’ve attended. No one remembered me which I like. They do some old school hymns that I haven’t heard since vacation bible school days. Checkmark Church off my To Do List for the day. That’s what it felt like walking out of there.

Im waiting on the girls to finish getting ready. Everyone slept in this morning. We are all sore. I’m hungry. I hope this buffet is as good as this brochure says it is. I could smell bacon when I walked through the lobby so there’s that.

I need to eat then pack up and head back to Las Vegas. I have a big day of going through emails while I sit on the couch with my MacBook and watch football all day. It’s really cold up here. I can’t wait to feel that 60 degree day down there.

Ive been staying in Lindsay’s house while she is in Australia. I’m dog sitting her dog and mine. I start to see how undisciplined my dog is. He’s basically a white and black skateboard with fur. He rolls through the house like he’s on fire. Her dog strolls in with the exact same attitude as Lindsay and sits in front of me waiting for me to entertain her. She doesn’t bark she only growls. She wakes me up by staring at me 2 inches away. You ever had a dog stare at you while you are trying to wake up? It would scare Lucifer!

And there are lets call them surprises in drawers and shelves in her house. I was in the guest bathroom looking for floss and opened a drawer only to find a hammer, a dozen soy sauce packets, 2 bullets even though she doesn’t own a gun, a deck of cards in case an impromptu blackjack game busts out in the bathroom, and a golf glove. In the drawer, folks. I opened her spice drawer and 6 rolls of quarters flew out. What is she doing with roll of quarters? I emailed to ask her she just said put those back Lol

I miss my home. Her guest bed is comfortable but God only knows who or what has slept in this bed. I can’t wait to go back home in a few weeks.

Finally the girls are ready. Time to eat!

Happy Birthday to my Ebook!

Happy-Birthday-61  Today I am releasing my Ebook. The perfect day for it. The ebooks are being sent out over the weekend. Please be patient there were a lot more orders than I ever expected. There is a centralized link page where you will be able to download it from. For all of your devices. It’s an ebook so if your device is not compatible for some unknown reason, please reply to the email you get and let us know immediately. Obviously I’m not the one that’s doing this. The people doing it have been hired and will hopefully be respect and polite to all my readers. If anyone causes a fuss, let me know and I will work it out myself,

I’m adding a whole new page for Book Reviews. I would love to hear from you guys. I worked very hard on this ebook. It’s a love story. All feedback will be welcome. Thank you for pre-ordering it. You are one of 5219 people who pre-ordered it. Most of them came from the International crowd. I was shocked Lol Had no idea anyone from outside of the U.S. knew about it. I’m going to have to work on multi-language ebook versions it looks like. That will be later on.

I put my whole heart into the book. We all know the ending. It’s a very personal and uplifting story. With a huge twist at the end. I hope you guys like it! Even if you don’t, would love to hear that too. I’m a first time author. And last. I highly doubt I have enough to say in my life to fill another book. I’m not that interesting.

I just want to say I really do appreciate you being interesting enough in my story to buy this. It’s the best $6 you may have ever spent on a first time author’s book.

My title, “Almost Meri’ed”. Enjoy!

I am a snowbird, for the weekend

Greetings from Snowbird, Utah. I flew up to Salt Lake City earlier to check on the new office we have here. Looks great. I like the new style of desks that came out this year. Very cool the materials used to make them and how they look. I want one to take back to Chicago.

Got my work done for the day and now we are in Snowbird, Utah for a ski weekend. I’m going to snowboard. Not much of a skier. My legs are too long and they tend to cross like shoelaces the further down the mountain I get. I’m trying to avoid injury. I figured once the twins are born my travel and adventure days are over for a few years. I’m trying to get as much traveling in on the weekends as I can.

We are going to enjoy a nice dinner at the resort tonight and head over to this local pub to listen to live music and watch people get drunk. I don’t drink so that’s not apart of my evening. Then going back to our rooms for an early night. I want to get up early, have a hot breakfast and hit the mountain like a rockstar. I haven’t been snowboarding this winter so I’m pretty stoked to go.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be posting a few more times. It’s dang cold and I’m not one to stay outdoors all day Lol I think as I got older my skin got thinner and I just can’t do it. The girls will be shopping and I have already bought the 3 things that interested me in this town. New ski boots, new gloves, and a badass black glossy ski helmet. That’s all I need. I’m going to draw on it tonight. I bought some paint markers that are suppose to not wash off. I’m looking on the internet for cool stencils to print out while the girls get ready to go to dinner.

This place is beautiful. I am so excited to wake up in time for the sunrise tomorrow. God has blessed me more than I deserve. My life is amazing. Have a great weekend ya’ll! Love you guys!

The truth shall set me free, again

I knew at some point she was going to speak out. She waited until she got an attorney to help her with a case. And then her side of the story came out. I told ya’ll, the truth shall set me free, again

page1 page2

Look at the trolls attacking her on her twitter account now. It’s really disgusting. They are relentless. She is telling the truth and they are still harassing her. Someone that is innocent in all of this, someone that has enough going on in her own life, and they are still making fun of her, picking on her, slandering her.

Do you see what I have had to deal with for the last 6 months? These are the people that stalk me online. When are they going to stop? Disgusting!

She is going to sue People, In Touch, Meri, and TLC and she will win. They have to prove she is involved and they can’t. Because she had nothing to do with it. She’s going to go for a multi-million dollar lawsuit and I pray they settle out of court quickly so she can go on with her life. I’m sorry her name was involved but it wasn’t me that put it out there. Like she confirmed, I don’t know her. We have never met in person, I have spoken to her on the phone one time.

I have waited since October for her to finally speak up and clear my name. It was worth the wait.

On to better things this morning

I’m at the airport and I have another 45 minutes to wait. I’m heading down to Los Angeles for the day to check in on that office and meet my buddy Will for dinner.

The wedding was awesome. So happy for Kevin and his bride. We had a lot of fun at the bachelor party. I arrived a little late to the rehearsal dinner but as soon as that boring, tedious practice round was over with we headed out. Kevin kissed his soon to be bride and we whisked him away. She yelled “Make sure he’s on time tomorrow boys” Lol She must have heard stories.

10 of us hit the town and let’s just say we had more fun than I have had in a few days. It’s good to be among the guys I grew up with. We haven’t really changed much, at least not when we get around each other. We ended up sneaking into the bride’s room, stealing her dress and stuffing it in a non-damaging hiding spot. We left her a post it note, since she’s a big fan of Sex and the City, and took off without waking anyone in her room. We felt like ninjas. Until 8am the next morning when she came banging on everyone’s door screaming. That’s when I realized how dumb and hurtful that would have been if she hadn’t started cracking up and kissing on Kevin wanting her dress back. We have done some sort of prank on all of our guys that get married during their bachelor party. It’s usually on the bride with the exception of painting what we thought were removable whiskers on our buddy Joel. That was a close call trying to get that scrubbed off of him by show time Lol Will our days of pranks ever stop? No. That’s what life is all about, having a great time with the same guys you grew up with. And making memories only we can laugh about later. I know I know it’s immature. What can I say.

The wedding really was beautiful. Kevin poured his heart out, promised her the moon, and handed her a movie ticket he had saved from their first date to prove not only is he sentimental, but he knew from their first date he wanted to marry her. Not a dry eye, folks. The reception was all about the food and dancing. We turnt it up. I love to dance, but some of my friends really need to work on it. What is this new head in the arm move? I don’t even know what the heck that is. I’m supposed to google it. It’s a Cam Newton thing I guess.

We went sight seeing after the reception. I stuffed in as much as I could in a few short hours then headed back to my room. I was exhausted. I ordered dinner in my room and went to sleep. That’s why I got up so early today.

I’m really excited to get to Los Angeles today. I need to find a Church to at least go pray and light a candle in. I’m trying to get myself into a Church on Sundays. I found out I feel off if I don’t go. Even just a short Thank you God private prayer session will do.

I hope ya’ll have a wonderful Sunday. I will be playing on my Pinterest until it’s time to go. There are some really cool images on there. Great vegan recipes too. It’s become my new downtime addiction.

I love ya’ll, God loves you too. Talk to you in a few days!

Is that right? Nice try though

The games the trolls play are amusing and pointless. This must have been one of her few lucid moments. Keep in mind I don’t even know who this lady is. And I don’t know what she’s talking about. Creepy.

Subject: Don’t know how to say this
From: Yvette Moreau <>

Dear Sam,

I don’t know how to say this but the tides are changing in my mind. I have
been one of the biggest trolls concerning you and Meri. I got sucked in to
a FB group called Sister Wives and other Lies.  I was befriended by Elisa
Furr. I joined twitter to follow the trail of breadcrumbs that the trolls
were dropping. I alienated Kendra who had always been nice to me.

I jumped on in on the investigation. I read Nick O’Conner’ blog. I heard
from 2 ladies that said Jackie Overton catfished them as you. Although they
said you went by a different name back then. I swallowed it hook line and
sinker. But for the past few days I have been trying to analyze why.

What is in me that would join in with a bunch of negative women? Why did I
allow myself to believe things and stories that were told to me but not
really proven? Why is this bothering me now? Am I the kind of person that
normally acts this way? I can answer that question. No. I have never been
involved with anything like this in my life. I don’t feel good about it. I
can’t take any of it back. I truly believe you were a woman named Jackie
pretending to be both Lindsey and Sam. I mean, I believed it! I can’t say
that now.

And if I can’t say that now, what is left to say? I’m ashamed of myself?
Yes. That’s the only honest answer. How do I go back and do it over and not
get involved? I can’t!  That fact fills me with regret. Knowing that I
caused anyone pain gnaws at me. My conscience is screaming at me.

The only thing I can do is delete my twitter. What does God say? If your
eye causes you to sin, cast it out. Twitter is my eye in this case.

I’m sorry. Two little words are not enough to take anything back. But they
are all I’ve got to work with. I’m truly sorry. This is my real name. I am
married, I have 4 grown kids and 4 grandkids. I took care of my dying mom
for 15 months before she passed on July 16th. Maybe this crazy thing
allowed me to escape the brutal pain of watching her die from cancer? I was
escaping my own life by being a party to making yours miserable. No excuse
but as I examine myself, I believe this whole story was like a drug that I
could escape with. I would go to my mom’s house on Friday, take her to
chemo and then spend the weekend with her and take care of her. For 15
months I did this. While she slept,  I escaped to the internet. The story
of you and Meri was a great way to lose myself.

Then it was over.  Mom died. I was pissed.  I was grieving. My weekends
were so empty without her. Getting back into my old routine with my family
was difficult. My husband kept saying, “you’re here but you are not
present”! And I wasn’t.  I was on FB or Twitter. I was on my “drug”.
Numbing my feelings and not thinking about anyone elses.

I’m not numb anymore. I feel like myself again. My brain returned to my
body and the light went off. “What the hell are you doing”? That was the
first question that came to me when I could see and think clearly again.

So with that revelation. I decided to email you this one time before I
delete my troll acct on twitter. Ofcourse we all have 2. One is real with
my real name Yvette. The troll account is Jenny Swift. I’m getting rid of
her and the troll that she has become. My apology may very well be way too
late but I wanted to make it before I leave.

I hope you are okay. I believe you. It took me a good long time to get
there but I really do. I know I have no right to ask anything of you and
Lindsey most likely screens your emails but she does scare the crap out of
me. I am praying that she doesn’t hack me after I gave you all my real
details. If it happens I guess I would deserve it. I don’t know how to end
this. Another apology would be overkill. So I will just do this.

Yvette Moreau

And then this. You have to scroll to the bottom and read from there on up. Again I don’t know her. I blocked her months ago on twitter and that’s the only interaction I’ve had with her. Lindsay said from her postings on facebook she’s really mentally struggling with her life and her youtube video proves it. It’s sad. I will pray for both of these ladies. And also pray they finally leave me alone. Stalking me for the past 6 months is not cool. The police will make a police report of this. I can get a copy of it, send it to my lawyer then the lawyer uses it to contact Twitter and Facebook to get their accounts reviewed. Hopefully deleted. The police won’t do more than make a report of it and I don’t expect them to. I just need that paper to move forward with other actions to help myself stop people that cross the line like this last lady. Using a military person’s id and photos to try to trick me into what? That’s disgusting.

Grow up ladies.

I didn’t hear from you today. I figured you were busy.  That’s okay. The
number is still good.

Jackie, I need to be honest with you. I tried to catfish you, but I
couldn’t go through with it. I can’t do it.  I got sick to my stomach just
thinking about it.

I, unlike all the other trolls via Twitter, have a conscience. From one
Christian Woman to another, shut down the blogs, Twitter and any other
social media.  Do this for you, not for anyone else.

I’m sorry I lied to you. My intention was to expose you.  What I realized
is you would never admit any wrong doing. I sense you have a temper, but
that you do try to stay positive.

Jackie, God loves you so much. He sent His Son for our sins.  You’re worth
so much more than what you’re doing.  I’m sure you are a good person, but
please stop lying. Realise it’s not favorable.  It can only do harm to
you.  You’re worth so much more.

Gif has so much for you! Please repent and stop the madness.  Its so hard
to admit when we’re wrong.  However, Its so liberating. It must hurt you to
see all the mean things that are said about you on Twitter.  Don’t look at
it.  You deserve more. Somethign better. You deserve to be loved and
appreciated. By doing this, you are stuck. In bondage, if you will.  Do
this for you.  Ask God to guide you.

I pray you’ll do the right thing.

A silent friend

PS The number is still good if you want to talk or pray. I’ll be honest
with you.  I’ll pray for you and with you, and I won’t be mean, turn on you
or expose you.  You deserve a good friend.

And my response 😉

I’m not Jackie. My name is Samuel. It took Lindsay about 2 seconds to figure out you were full of shit in the first email. She was tracking down your real identity as I short answered you giving her time and additional IP address info. Once she figured it out and told me, I sent the info to your local police. I don’t need to call a free google voice phone number in Los Angeles when you live in Atlanta. Unless you are 41 there’s no way you could have been a PA for 9 years as undergrad and med school would have chewed up 8 years of your 20s. Adding your parents were dead and you have a younger brother, all of it was transparent.

It doesn’t bother me at all you were trying to trick me you aren’t the first. I’m smarter than that. Well actually Lindsay is. I just thought you were suspicious enough to forward your emails to her to look into it.

I’m not going to contact you. Because you are already too f***ed in the head for me to be around. I will pray for you though. I prayed for you months ago when I first blocked you. God will handle this one. He already did urging you to fess up. Have fun playing games with someone else. Axl Rose sucks. He’s such an a-hole because every business deal he has been screwed over time and time again. He’s squeaking by doing what he loves and it pisses him off he can’t score a big fat stack of money like when he was younger. But all his anger just fuels his singing reputation. His voice is an old worn out tire. I can’t believe you are still a fan of his. But I guess we all still hold on to the past in someways.
Best of luck to you sweetheart. You’re going to need it.

That’s it those are the first 5 pages of my book for free. I hope it makes you want more. I tried really hard to write about my experiences and add a little humor. I think I am funny in a non-threatening way.  I am leaving at noon to fly to Seattle for the weekend. My buddy is getting married and I am a groomsman. Groom’s man? I’m standing up there looking pretty. I have to go pick up my tux after I leave work and try it on for the last time. It fit great the last time they had to alter one of the cuffs at the bottom. It’s been a while since I tied a bowtie I bought a clip on to make it easier. I hope the bride doesn’t notice. She’s already texted all of the groomsmen to threatened us about the bachelor party tonight. We are not allowed to get Kevin drunk. Only 2 drinks than sodas the rest of the night. Yeah right, sweetheart Lol Kevin used to lose to bad at beer pong in college he would throw up by round 5. He also used to piss himself about 4 hours into any frat party and none of us have matured beyond those years so I’m thinking Kevin might show up Saturday afternoon with one eyebrow and regret Lol

Ya’ll need to be watching American Idol. It’s the last season and it’s really good. This west coast feed stuff sucks because my twitter timeline gets filled up with everyone talking about the east coast feed. Check it out, great show so far.

Have a great weekend whatever you may be doing. Stay warm, have fun and go to Church on Sunday! I love ya’ll, God loves you too. Talk to you next week!
