This is one of my Top 5 Favorite Books. I love it. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story is of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his new love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.
The Great Gatsby is one of the great classics of twentieth-century literature.
This year I was going to do our usual Thanksgiving blowout celebration but I finally decided that’s not what I want. Guys, this year hasn’t been very good to me. We have all been through a lot and I just don’t feel into it. I had to call several family members and friends and Just Say No. It was hard but I feel better about the decision. This year I am going to do a small gathering. Very small. Under 10 people I’m hoping. I had all kinds of plans but the closer it was getting the more anxious I was getting. I just don’t want to put myself through it. I’m allowed to take a year off, right? Especially a bad year. Everyone was understanding, sort of. The few people who will be coming know that I’m not going all out. I’m still getting it catered and I will still do the vegan dishes but I’m not going to feed half of North America this year. I said no. It’s for my own sanity.
I’m happy to say that I am finally dating someone. Her name is Jesse. She’s a peach. I really like her. She’s sweet and funny. She’s closer to my own age (Just in case I was going to get those kind of comments Lol) and we get along great. She has not met my kids yet. I’m thinking after Thanksgiving some time. She has only seen photos of them. She hasn’t been to my house yet. It’s all new and I’m having a great time.
My ex-wife is not happy to hear about it. Her sister texted me a screenshot of what she had to say about it. I don’t care. That’s why she’s the EX WIFE, not the wife. I have never enquired or care to know anything about her dating life or even her life. I don’t know if her sister felt like I needed to know her reaction or not. I’m not even sure how the sister found out. I don’t care. I just deleted it and moved on.
Things are good. The kids are great. The boys love school. They are enjoying all kinds of coloring activities and they love playing the group games. I think I made a great decision about putting them in school early. They needed a jump start and I am happy it worked out for us. My little Peace is going to marry every boy she sees. She loves them all. Ask me again when she starts dating how cute I think that is.
Everything is fine. Boring, perfect. Life is finally calm and I’m enjoying just being with my kids.
Good morning Batfans. I’m ready to go vote. I just dropped the boys off at school. I came back home to drop Peace off. Someone is going to watch her for me. I’m sure I will have to stand in line a little while. I’m happy to do so! The midterms are just as important as a Presidential year. I am a registered Independent so my votes swing a little Democratic. I do not support Trump in any way. He is awful. I have hung up on many of the Republican robocalls trying to swing my vote. No thanks. I’ve looked at the ballot online for a few weeks to really figure out who I wanted to vote for. I’m ready.
It doesn’t matter what party you are for, please go vote today. Your vote does matter even if you don’t think it does.
Everything is great. It’s been nice and quiet. I’m slowly working on the menu for our family Thanksgiving. I have invited a number of people, about 30 or so. I hope they all show up. I’m getting it catered but I am making our own vegan dishes for me and my kids. Every year some of our friends or family do try a few of my vegan things. That always makes me happy. We took down all of the Halloween stuff and put up Fall décor. The rain stopped a lot of the outside stuff from going up over the weekend but it’s getting put out this week. We are supposed to get some snow on Friday. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I can’t wait. We had the fireplaces stocked up with firewood and those Firestarter logs. I can’t wait to make hot cocoa and sit with the kids in front of the fire on a snowy day reading books. It’s one of our favorite things to do.
Hope everyone is doing well. My heart goes out to all of the latest tragedies in the world. There are so many and I have been praying for all. We do have one very special reader who just found out she has breast cancer. God bless Doreen and her family. She has a lot of choices to make soon and she told me she is scared but empowered. Please send your thoughts to Doreen. She has been reading my blog for a long time and has always sent in positive messages. You can beat this Doreen! You will be okay, I know it.
I love you guys and I will update again soon. Time to go vote!
Halloween is done. This year we went as Alvin and the Chipmunks plus Dave. I was Dave. It went very well. The kids had a great time. I had fun and I just wanted to go lay down Lol Walking with 3 little kids up and down our street was kind of a pain in the butt. It worked out and everyone was safe. We started at 4pm and pretty much got done by 6:30pm. The rest of the night was dedicated to handing out candy, cleaning up, getting all candy put up because they were all conspiring to get their buckets down off of the kitchen counter.
They did have fun and that’s all that mattered. Now it’s time to take down all of the Halloween decorations and start with the Fall/Thanksgiving stuff. I have boxes and boxes of decorations. The gardener/helper is coming over this weekend to help me put stuff up. He loves to help and always figures out cool ways to make it look better than I could. It’s also a time for him to come plant some things that will start growing in the spring time. If he gets it cultivated now he has less work to do in March.
How did your Halloween go? Did you guys dress up? Did you go to a party? I hope you all had fun. It’s not just about the candy. Okay, well most of it is. The rest is about having some fun.
I’m having Thanksgiving at my house this year. I’ve already started on the menu. We expect about 30 people here give or take a few dozen. I never really know how many we are hosting until they all show up in a pile and I start freaking out about how much food I need to go whip up real fast.
Everything is very boring and very nice. I love it when my life has calmed down and I have nothing going on. I love it Lol
Have a great weekend coming up guys! I love ya’ll and I will update more next week.
