Rowboat Book Club Book #78

The Handmaid’s Tale is a little risky to read but I think most of you have been asking us to do it. It’s by Margaret Atwood.

Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. She may leave the home of the Commander and his wife once a day to walk to food markets whose signs are now pictures instead of words because women are no longer allowed to read. She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, because in an age of declining births, Offred and the other Handmaids are valued only if their ovaries are viable. Offred can remember the years before, when she lived and made love with her husband, Luke; when she played with and protected her daughter; when she had a job, money of her own, and access to knowledge. But all of that is gone now . . .

Funny, unexpected, horrifying, and altogether convincing, The Handmaid’s Tale is at once scathing satire, dire warning, and tour de force.

Comments are now ON!

Hi guys, how’s it going? I’m great. I’ve been going back and forth on if I should share this link out or not. I decided why not. Over the past week Lindsay and I have been working hard trying to redo some of my online accounts to make them look nicer. Ever since she moved to Chicago she keeps trying to pretty up my life. It’s a little weird. However, my online presence is pretty basic and simple. I’m not that creative. I just want my accounts to be functional and I’ve never really put much effort into making them look good. Well, you guys know that because you’ve been here for years Lol This place is dusty, moldy, and probably a little worn but now we have a new design.

What do you think? Not bad huh.

And onto this…

So Youtube has a new thing that connect your subscribers from your channel into more of a messaging with friends type thing. I have 155 subscribers. News to me too. I had no idea. Look:

You have to share your link to add in the friends so I’m sharing my link. Here is my Youtube friends link.

Add me, message me, ask away. I love all of my fans and I’ve never shyed away from answering questions that are respectful.

I also have several hidden subscribers, see them here:

Why are you hiding? It’s the internet we can see you Lol

I don’t get why you would hide your subscription on YouTube? Anyone know? The channel owner can see you guys. You aren’t hidden, at all. Weird. So we just redid my entire YouTube channel. Well the one with all the voicemails. I have a completely different YouTube channel, as some of you already know 😉 We will fix that one up tomorrow. We also just opened up all comments on that voicemail YouTube Channel. I’ve never done that before. The only reason I did is because of this

Sorry trolls, not today!

I get to review all of your comments before I post then respond to them. Lindsay is an added moderator so who knows what she will do. She’s also the moderator for the comments on this blog. It all goes to her first then she will text me to reply to it. I actually haven’t been posting your comments on here in probably over a year. That’s because most of my comments now are from my long time viewing fans who communicate with me elsewhere.

And in case you are wondering, yes it’s really me that owns that YouTube channel. I own it and Lindsay runs it because I didn’t know how to make the voicemails into videos. She did all of that with her friends. I’ve now been YouTube and Google verified. Where’s my blue checkmark? Lol

I had to upload a file to my website and then hit Verify. So I did.

It’s official, My Youtube is now verified. Woot!

Go check out all the hard work. No I’m not going to be adding a description to each voicemail. I already did that here and I don’t care. Just listen and you will see the REAL TRUTH of the situation, not the bullsh** lies Meri Brown said on tv.

Have a good day, Batfans!

Happy Father’s Day 2019

To all the cool dads like me, to all the moms that have to be mom and dad for their kids, to all the dads that are waiting on their little bundles of joy, dads of the world, ITS OUR WEEKEND!

We have all kinds of fun stuff planned for me this weekend. Most of it encompasses the fine art of doing nothing Lol We are going to cookout all weekend, that’s what I wanted. I already got breakfast in bed, that was a nice surprise. The kids “helped” pick out my food from the bakery and I noticed a few had jelly smears on their shirts which only means Mrs Tanenbaum gave them samples. I asked her not to a million times and she said she has to Lol I’m showered, dressed and ready to hit the town. My kids are taking me to Best Buy to FINALLLLLLLYYYYYYYY pick out my new gopro camera. I’ve waited and waited for the new one for a long time. It has all of the features I’ve been dying to try out. I’m going to strap it on my drone and see how she looks with 2 different angles to view from the sky. I know I’m a nerd but I love it. If I had balls enough I’d strap my cellphone to my drone and do a live periscope but I just know I would crash or something and bye bye cellphone.

Dads, what are your plans for this weekend? Anything fun? My entire weekend is geared around relaxing. It also means I get a few hours of me time because my nannies in the city are coming up to take the kids back to the city to make my father’s day cards and such. I love the homemade ones. I keep them all and I make a huge deal each time I open them. The kids laugh and giggle when I read it out loud then smother them each with kisses of appreciation.

We are on the countdown for our big vacation trip. It’s very sooooooon I can’t wait. I’ve been ready to go for more than a week. Life is going a little slow I just want to get on the plane and get over there already. Tokyo is going to be a blast.

Kids are good, I’m good, life is good. I couldn’t be any happier. I love ya’ll have an amazing weekend!

Cooking up a storm

Hey guys. So over the weekend for some dumb reason I let my friends/former nannies dye my hair blonde Lol Yes, blonde. Not that shiny too bright yellowy blonde. The subtle hints of blonde that went into my naturally brown hair. I guess this is the summer Sam I always wanted to be? I don’t know. I don’t regret it but boy am I getting the comments. I already posted the Periscope while we were doing it and I loved all of the comments from the ladies. The guys were begging me to stop Lol I feel very 90s boy band-ish now. It won’t last. They said the hair color will last about 6 weeks and then we either do it again or I leave it alone. I don’t mind 6 weeks of trying out something fresh.

I just uploaded a bunch of photos to our Family Facebook page so head over there after reading this to check out my new look, it’s different. I don’t look half bad. I’m already very tan so I think it makes me look better, younger? I don’t know.

I have been cooking nonstop because I’m working on my Vegan Cookbook. I’m not going to sell it because I believe vegan food tips should be free plus I’m not a real author. We all know this. I’m a very passionate want to be chef though and I always dreamed of going to cooking school. I can’t because the damage to my left hand is so bad my knife skills are horrible. I try really hard to make things look nice while I’m chopping/cutting but it comes out uneven. I would never pass. There’s no surgery to repair it so that I could heal up and go to cooking school so I let that dream go. This will be a free PDF book you can download here and on Amazon. It will be out early next year so I’m taking the rest of the summer and fall to continue to try out recipes. All winter long I will edit the ones I like and start taking photos of it and writing things up. It’s going to be a big process but I’m very excited about it.

Vegan food is the healthiest food you can eat. You are trying to feed your body for fuel. A lot of people eat just to eat because they have to. I look at it as I’m fueling myself for whatever I’m doing that day. If I know I’m going to workout hard in the morning, do a bunch of physical chores or be very busy I like to load up on that day. On the days I know it’s just hanging out at home with the kids, for me it’s smaller meals with more snacks because my kids love to snack more than to eat a full meal so we balance it. I’ve really enjoyed always sharing as many recipes with my Newsletter group/Facebook group (Yes I have those things) and try the very best I can to answer as many questions about being a vegan as I can. I do try out regular food but most of the time I don’t like it. However I do get a craving here and there and very rarely I will cross the line and go grab something I know is bad for me. So that’s also part of my summer plants.

Travel. Oh boy do we have a lot going on. Stephanie did manage to get time off to join us in Tokyo. She will be going overseas for the very first time. I’m really excited for her because she is going to love it. The culture, the food, the fun. It’s a special part of the world. We will be leaving soon and I will go silent on all social media because a big trip like that with my kids is going to take my full attention. When we get home I will update all accounts and then post all of our videos and photos. The one exception is I am going to try to Periscope from there. It’s my new thing, I’m getting more into it and I love how interactive it is. The comments start flying and I just laugh at all of the crazy things people say. They are mostly shocked I actually exist and I’m not a girl I think Lol I tried to tell ya’ll Meri was lying this whole time. So now we are exploring the many things Periscope can do and since it’s so handy via my iPhone I am enjoying sharing my experiences. My kids love it. They are all hams just like their daddy so of course anytime I’m filming they are involved.

I’m really living my best life right now. I have a beautiful home, 3 amazing, smart, kids and the best girlfriend in the world. Stephanie and I are practically inseparable right now and I love it. She really is perfect for me and the kids. We are a package deal so I’m very fortunate to have found her.

Guys, I might be falling in love with Stephane. And I just grinned even typing that so I better get this wrapped up Lol I know she’s going to read this in a few minutes because she follows me on Twitter and will get a notification.

Babe, want to come over for dinner tonight? I am inviting you 😉

It’s almost Tokyo time

This year’s big trip will be to Tokyo, Japan. I’ve been there before and I love it. I want my kids to see the city and really get a good look at the history of the entire country. I’m trying to expose them early so that when they are older they stay excited to travel all over the world. Lindz will be going with us and finally taking a real vacation. She has been working nonstop and it’s time for some downtime/family time with me and the kids. We’ve been planning this trip out since January and I’m very happy to say we are all ready to go. We are leaving in 2 weeks. Stephanie is not able to join us she has to work. She is bummed out but asked for photos so she can see all the fun.

Are you guys doing any summer vacation trips this year? We have a lot of smaller trips planned out but for now we are staying home until we get back from Tokyo. I would love to take Peace to South Korea when she’s older so she can learn where half of her life started.

We have been hanging out at the house all morning and are about to roll into town. I think we need to pick up some new shoes for the boys (again) and probably get haircuts for everyone. The rest of the day will be hanging out and working on our colors and numbers.

Have a great day guys! I wrote up our Miami Beach trip post and will add that later. I just wanted to do a quick one for now and also let everyone that asked for my family Periscope account on here, it’s now sent to you all. The ones asking for it on Facebook and Twitter I will send it out later today to you guys. Thanks for your interest. I’m loving the feedback Lol Yes, I’m a dork but I love my kids and I’m so happy to share them with you all.
