Go Cubs!

Yesterday we took the twins to the Cubs game. My boys love going. I love being there with them. We will always be a Cubs family. We got in and got settled in our seats. I got out the drinks for my boys and a baggie of their snacks. We were each holding one on our laps even though I purchased 4 seats. I knew I would be putting our stuff in the seats next to us. Heston decided he wanted Mommy. I got Alex for the first few innings. Then the boys wanted to walk around so I took them by myself around the back and started walking with them hand in hand. The people swarm to us I swear and it scares my kids. I do my best to keep them in close to me so we don’t get in anyone’s way and we were walking on the outside of the area so people can walk freely but here they come at us. It makes my heart race and I try to answer their questions quickly so they can go away. I hate being rude but I can’t protect them, pick them up and run faster than any drunk a-hole trying to touch on them. Thankfully at this game we didn’t have that happen. We did the last game. Sarah was of course waiting for me so I could purchase a few things real quick and stuff them in my pockets to take back to our seats. The boys ditched me immediately and went to their SaySay Lol They can’t quite say Sarah so Heston turned it into Saysay. Whatever works, son.

The game was great. The Cubs won of course and we got to cheer them on as my boys would yell just because everyone else around us was yelling. I did pick Heston up once to cheer and he got a high-five from the lady in back of us. He sort of got his hand up for it but that’s the best he could do. He was scared.

We left early because my wife said Alex was getting restless which he always does and we wanted to get out of there before the entire stadium emptied all at once. She takes the bag, I take the both boys and off we go. My boys are both chunks at this point. It’s like carrying two bags of dog food around for 8 blocks. I had to put them down once we cleared the area. Then it’s a foot race to keep them in front of us and not off into the street. Heston is always the one that wants to hit the curb. If there’s a stroller that folds up and you can stuff it in a backpack, let me know. That would sure come in handy for us. If we could at least stroller one of them the other one would be easy to carry for me.

We went out to dinner after the game because other than the hot dog and fries my wife had we really didn’t eat much. My boys had their snacks. They didn’t want anything else. It explains why they both pigged out like I did at dinner though. By the time we got them both in their car seats and headed back up north they were passed out so my wife and I could hold hands as I drove everyone home. She has always done that since we started dating. She likes to hold my hand while I’m driving. I asked her why once and she said it’s a comfort thing. Girls are weird.

This morning my wife, Sarah, and I are going to Church. Everyone else is staying home. We have to stop at Starbucks on our way back and then we are all going out for brunch. My wife found this really cool breakfast place nearby that she wants us to try. She said they make omelette frites that she heard are the best. I’m sure we will have oatmeal or some seasonal fruit which is all my boys want anyway. Man, they can blow right through a thing of grapes. I’ve never seen anything like it. They have teeth enough we can let them eat them but we watch every grape. We don’t want any choking. We all literally watch them chomp it up Lol Sarah still cuts them in 3rds because she said I’m dumb for letting them eat a whole grape like that. If one of them had ever chocked on one yet I wouldn’t, but they really like to chomp hard. I made it into a big game. Chomp on it! Get it! And they do.

Today is lazy Sunday at the Cooper house. It’s going to be a little cloudy and there’s a small chance of rain but it’s going to be hot enough we are all going out on the boat again. I have to put it up once the weather changes soon so I want to get more time out on the lake. I just looked it’s supposed to be 78 degrees. A little rain won’t hurt my group if we get caught in it. This time I need to remember to actually bring the sunscreen. I laid it out on the counter and forgot all about it. Of course it was solely my fault and not anyone else’s fault. That’s okay I’m so used to getting the blame now I just say Yeah okay that’s my fault and we all move on. Even if it’s not my fault, with 4 women versus me it’s just easier.

We are in full Halloween costume mode. We have no idea what to dress our babies. My wife wants Peace to go in a baby pumpkin outfit because she has seen all of her nieces dressed as that. I was wanting something different. We are still searching. I’m really thinking it’s Batman time for my boys though Lol I have been dying to get the all dressed up as Batman. How cool is that! I can’t wait.

I better get in the shower and get myself ready. My wife hogs the bathroom as soon as she gets up so I need to get ready to go.

Have a blessed Sunday and go to Church! We all need a little Church in our lives. I will update more tomorrow guys.

#Cubs Win Opening Day

My wife and I went to the opening day at Wrigley with my buddy Josh and his girlfriend. We had been planning this out for a month. I ate a big salad before we left because there’s not much vegan on the menu at any baseball game. The few items they have I’m not interested in. I do enjoy the nice cold water though.

We got there and parked. Then we hoofed it the many blocks to our gate. The tickets were mobile scanned and in we went. We immediately went and bought some drinks for everyone and found our seats. Third baseline about 8 rows back towards the left field side. Rain delay, rain delay, rain delay. Finally the ballgame started. It was exciting. The girls are both lifelong Chicago natives and Cub fan lifers so they were very excited to see all the guys on the field. Josh and I were trying to figure out the Dodgers players. We all had such a great time even though the game went late.

Cubs win! Cubs win! Cubs win! Great start to a new season and we finally got out of there around 1am. We bought a bunch of stuff to take home. Always shopping, my wife. Then we got them dropped off. I asked if Josh needed a ride to his place and he said nope and grinned. His girlfriend smacked him. I didn’t realize they were into the sleepover phase yet. Way to go Joshie!

We got home late and took a quick shower then fell into bed. It was a great double date night and we all talked about going to a concert sometime soon.

This morning I got into work late but brought a bunch of Cubs gear for my hard-working crew. Hats, tshirts, buttons, and various smaller things. They picked out what they wanted and back to work we went. I want to do a group day so we can all go to a Cubs game. That got voted Yes very quickly during our morning meeting. Then we all reviewed the multiple videos of the passenger getting dragged off of the United Airlines plane.

I had heard about it. I didn’t really understand what was going on until we saw it and someone read an article off of CNN.com. I thought he had done something. I didn’t realize he did nothing. Then of course they look through his entire life and started writing about any bad thing he has ever done or said. None of that is relevant to his horrid treatment from this airline. I told them no more United Airlines. We book all of our trips for employees and vendors through United. We have used them the entire 9 years of SJC. I fly myself everywhere but we book flights for everyone else through them and I just can’t stomach it. I know this will all blow over but nothing will stop this. They will do it again.

We all voted to end our business ties with United and we shredded our cards. All points can sit and linger. I don’t want them and I don’t want anymore to do with them. We can find another airline to do business with. It’s sad it comes to this though. It was unnecessary. He is a human being. Not a backpack. You don’t just pick him up and drag him off. You find someone else that is not refusing. How hard is that? It was a random computer draw. Just draw again. Or how about get a private jet to take the employees another way? Rent a car? Go on another flight? Something.

Either way goodbye United Airlines. You won’t be getting anymore of my money.

I hope everyone is having a great day. I’m taking my boys to swimming tonight. We have begun that again now that Heston is feeling much better. They both like it and I love getting fun activities in during the week with them. I can’t wait when our pool is open for the year and we can swim as much as we want with them.

I will update more tomorrow! Love ya’ll!

Cubs Win in 10th Inning

Last night I hauled my family over to my office for a special family meal. I was going to take them out to eat but Sarah asked if we could watch the game somewhere else because the boys need their sleep. She was right. We did wake them up twice so I arranged to get the conference room set up with our big tv and a bunch of tables/chairs for everyone to be comfortable.

Lindsay and I got off work and split up. She went one direction to get the bbq and fixins, I went another way to get the pizzas and the chicken and salad stuff. Then I went to get the desserts and we met up at the office. She was already there setting up the tables for me and setting out the plates and silverware. The only thing I forgot to get was ice. Which worked out because I had to start hauling people over. The nannies helped drive both vehicles back and forth and I got everyone over in 3 groups. Man was that a hassle. Apparently some of my Aunts don’t want to sit with some of my cousins. It was musical chairs and I felt like an old dad saying Just go SIT DOWN Lol

We all watched the Pre-game Chicago Cubs show and enjoyed a meal. The game started and the first wave of airport bound family members started getting out of the door. We took a bunch of photos, we had a great few days together. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone. After they all left my employees with their families and friends that wanted to watch the tv with us came over. They helped us eat up all of the leftovers. Helped me clean up most of what we had and sat to watch the game. We still had plenty of food to munch on so it was actually really nice.

When it was bedtime for the boys Sarah took them home and left them in the care of Brandi who doesn’t get into the Cubs as much as we do. Sarah came back and was able to enjoy the rest of the game with us. I was so happy she was there. She has really enjoyed watching it with me. At first she was tired of me talking about the Cubs but I think they won her over with such an awesome series of games.

The game was incredible. I’m sure most of you watched it. It was back and forth. There was no clear winner. Just when you thought the Cubs had it locked down it went to crap fast. Lester came in and threw a wild pitch which scored 2. I almost had a heart attack. Then we came back on a great double by Ben Zobrist which scored Al jr! So great!

In the 10th inning when it was 7 to 6 Cubs lead we had to get 3 outs. Just 3. The first one was pretty easy, the second was a little tougher. At this point everyone is standing up praying. Please or Come on Cubbies. Or just one more out! And finally a base hit to Bryant who is smiling because HE KNOWS he has this play. Throw over to Rizzo who throws his arms up in the arm and we ALL LOST OUR SHIT Lol

We were jumping up and down, high fives, hugs. Dads and kids embracing, moms and kids hugging. It was awesome!!!!! I had so much fun watching the game like that I asked if they all wanted to do the Super Bowl like this too but catered and more comfortable chairs. They all voted yes so that’s a plan for next year.

Just hearing stories from everyone of how long they have been Cubs fans. The phone calls to people’s parents who were also watching the game. Our sales manager Jim called his dad and neither of them could even speak. His dad had to go out-of-town and missed watching the game but Jim told him doesn’t matter because you saw it happen. It was very emotional.

I was so happy to sit and watch the post game show. We all talked about how the Indians really did their best and they never gave up on the game. They made it so hard to win so thanks to the Cleveland Indians and all their fans for hanging in there last night. It could have gone either way. We had the better night.

And finally after 108 years, the CHICAGO CUBS are the 2016 World Series Champions!

cubswinI am not a lifelong Cubs fan. I am about 9 years into the Cub fan life. I appreciate all everyone has been through waiting. It really was an emotional event and I will never forget it. I ordered my Cubs World Series hats and shirts. I bought stuff for the boys too.

Tonight after work I’m taking my boys, Sarah, and Lindsay down to Wrigley field because I want to take some family photos. I want my boys to remember this photos. We will always be a Cubs family and I am so happy they won.

Great job Cubs. Thank you for an amazing season. Let’s do it again next year!
